I have one of those on my rear roof from a squirrel chucking acorns; the hood would be an eyesore.
I wish I had an easy DIY idea, but I'd call my insurance to see if it was covered under comprehensive (especially since you have the photos) and take it to my body shop. In NorCal I have a great one that I trust so anything like that goes to him.
