Who says that all these "guidelines" are gospel from the BMW engineering gods.
Those who swear by this breakin stuff which seems to vary greatly as time goes on simply assume all this comes directly from the guys who blueprinted every thing. Probably not a perfectly valid assumption to make but if the manual says so than it has to be right, right?
