We just picked up our new X5 on Saturday. We went against ordering the ventilation and massage after sitting in a few with it and felt the seat comfort wasn't as great as we thought it should be in merino trim. We also did a ton of searching on the topic and found most said the added options reduced comfort. As they use stiffer and less padding in the seat. We couldn't find a spec in merino without these options so we took a chance that it would be much more comfortable to us. Great news for us at least is the first thing we noticed was how much more comfortable the merino seats were without the ventilation and message. The seats aren't perforated and the whole seat is now merino as well without those options. The seats are super supportive and super comfortable and we absolutely believe for us at least that we made the right decision. As always though this is subjective and everyone's tastes are different as far as comfort goes.
