* In 1994, Canada was able to import 36 first gen. E36 M3s. These had to be modified to Canadian safety specs. Mine was one of these in Dakar Yellow. America notably didn’t get these and were to develop and assemble their own version through BMW US input in Pennsylvania BMW plant. This, IIRC, didn’t have the M3 Motorsports engine (286 horses) but a tuned up 3 series engine (240).
