The seller at the time sold it to me as if the previous owner loved ///M cars so much that he stuck M-badges everywhere.
I later come to find out it is a rare series of the first gen E36's. They only came in AW, delivered in US only and 150 were made.
Very similar to this one, only different wheelset. Made a few grand on resale, but still sold way below $10k. They're still only worth around $15k in good condition, since it's really just another 325is. I loved the interior though.
