While they rate the max tow at 7,200. The real max is 5,500 due to the max tongue weight of 551 pounds. I'm sure the X5 would tow 7,200 with 720 pound TW very well. There's plenty of payload capacity and hitch seems stout, but for BMW to state TW to be 551 max is mind boggling.
