X5 is going to be an M performance car. So it will get M package and M brakes as a minimum. That is a $4K hike right out of the box.
Judging from M340 that got more M parts - same can be available for M50 x5. It might end up with M sport dif $1300 , some extra cooling and a stiffer suspension.
So i bet the base price for x5 M50 is at least 5K- 6K more vs the x5 50 model now. PLus x line is no longer available with the v8

The X5 M50i will likely be positioned and equipped very similar in the X5 lineup as the M550i in the 5 series lineup. There it carries a $15k premium over the 540i X-drive. The question is if that gap could be similar for the X5 or if as you guess it will be a $5k increase over the X5 50i M-Sport making the gap $25k to the X5 40i. A large span of possibilities. Bean counter math will decide not upgrades as such. Volume gains vs. unit profit etc.
