You will have to try what works best for you sport mode vs safe battery mode. I don't think you need 100 battery charge all the time to do what you describe. But you can put it in charge battery when you go down hill and it will charge faster. I might even charge a lot when you are braking on the engine going down hill in sport mode.
This is all good information. I can see where the "sport mode" button is beside the driver. But where is the button for preserving the battery charge? And I assume there is a screen where I can set the percentage of charge I want when the ICE is recharging? Is that right?

Is there anyone who here who has towed a heavy load (6000+ lbs) up a steep hill with the 45e in sport mode? My old-school 4.6 liter 2007 Ford Explorer can tow 7,200 lbs just like the 45e. But on grades that are unusually steep, I've got to drop it into 3rd gear with high RPM and run below the speed limit to make it up. How does the 45e perform with a heavy trailer on a steep grade?
