I have the performance exhaust on the 40i and it is not worth it. Well, at least it does not have any pops, bangs etc.
I do agree with your sentiment - I have a Panamera e-Hybrid that with a sports exhaust - it goes from zero emission stealth cruiser around town and then throaty beast on the twisties. It's called the best of both worlds!!
