One way is to look at the boost values stored in the car ECU. A chiptune increases power by (amongst other things) modifying maximum boost, so BMW will be able to detect boost values have been higher than factory spec.

Yes I know. I chipped al my previous BMW's and never had any problem. I don't abuse the car, don't do streetraces, ...
The extra torque is nice and engine is smoother.
With a strong 6 cilinder I don't see any problem. If you're gonna chip a light 3 cilinder engine from a 1 serie that's asking for problems.
And like I said the 45e completely changed my driving style. But some extra punch now and then would be nice
