45e isn't available yet in the US. My SA keeps sending me updates, but even he has no idea when BMWNA will release it. I think the 45e is at 394hp, and has a larger battery pack than the Cayenne E Hybrid. I did drive a 745e and the system is smooth and should translate over to the G05 pretty well. After driving the Cayenne against the V8 G05 though, there is no way the 45e will handle near as well. Ultimately you should test drive one of each, hopefully optioned as close to what you want. I had pretty much just assumed the G05 would be my next vehicle, and fourth BMW, but the test drives changed my mind.
I haven't driven the 50i but the 45e is not a performance SUV for me. It is quick it is fun to drive to a certain point. You can win a lot of traffic light sprints. And that is more than enough for me. In really fast cornering you feel the heavy battery pack in the back.

I think it is at his best driving around town in electric mode and cruising on the highway with the ICE (autobahn speeds are no problem). If this is what you are looking for you will be really happy. Driving in electric mode is really relaxing.

Performance wise the 45e compares to the 40i certainly not the 50i
