I mean...what you said is just untrue or misinformed. DI has nothing to do with it and using exhaust valves on a turbo engine helps its performance. There's a reason supercars having been doing it forever.
They help, when closed, with low end torque by increasing turbo induction exhaust backpressure.
When open at high RPM they help increase horsepower by allowing more freeflow.
Basically its win/win when using valved exhaust and it should be used even more so on a turbo'd engine.
