Well I did it lol.
Taking the mirrors off was actually easy. I followed the instructions of the above YouTube video with the proper pry tools and it popped right off. I made sure to apply an equal force on the front side of the mirror while prying from behind.
I actually had more trouble pulling off the caps. There are two tabs you have to press in (see the red clouded area in the photo below). I used two trim tools, one to hold in one tab and the other to slightly pry away the cap itself from the mirror housing. I had to do this for each tab, at which point I was able to yank away the cap completely.
I debated on whether to get the carbon or gloss black and I’m glad I got the gloss black. I really have no carbon anywhere else on the car and the gloss black blends in very well with the trim I have.
