I think the winners here are the consumers. Maybe variations of the models are what they've asked for. Maybe they like some aspects of the M cars i.e. power and seats, but think the ride is too harsh (M2 w/out the option for EDC), M5 ride quality etc. Now they can choose their level of equipment and that's a good thing. It's not like the M2 and 1M owners that complain that they never got an M engine have been overlooked or anything...
