I'd be happy to give a few tips!

First, I'm sure you've read other people's PCD reports. Here's my most recent one from when I picked up my F15 X5 in November 2013:

And now the tips:

1. Have fun. I don't think there is a better way to take delivery of a new car than BMW PCD.

2. When you are driving an X5 on the track, remember NYC. Not New York City, it 's "Not Your Car". Feel free to push the car as hard as you can. The X5 is no M3, but it's performance capabilities are likely better than you think. One of the best things about PCD is getting to learn things like this about the X5 without thrashing your brand new car.

3. At the end of the track session, the professional driver will ask for people who want to go for a high speed run. Do it. I guarantee you will be impressed with what they can do with an M3 or M5 on the track. Their car control skills are awesome.

4. Get as much as you can from the off-road portion of the day. On the special off-road course they will teach you about features like Hill Descent Control that are pretty cool. Even if you never take your X5 off road, it's very cool to see the capabilities of these vehicles.

5. Don't rush the delivery process. The Delivery Specialists are really good at teaching you about your new car. They will demonstrate everything to you, including all of the new iDrive features and will set up all of the Connected Drive stuff. Ask lots of questions.

6. Don't miss the factory tour. Sometimes the tour is unavailable when BMW is getting ready to release a new vehicle produced in Spartanburg. Hopefully it will be available when you are there. A great experience.

7. The Zentrum museum is cool, but won't take very long to see everything. There is a shop near the front in case you want to purchase BMW and/or Performance Center merch.

8. Take plenty of pictures and then post a report when you get home.

Bonus tip: If you have the time, go a little bit out of your way to check out some neat places you've never been to. I've done the Tail of the Dragon after a prior PCD but I'm thinking I might drive the Blue Ridge Parkway this time around.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip and new X5.
