Absolutely. You have to compare a loaded up Cayenne Turbo to the M50i. Driving them both it was very obvious. The Cayenne S is not a performance match at all to the 50i. It’s anemic exhaust note is disappointing and can’t hide the displacement of its 2.9L motor of the Cayenne S. It is what it is. Most reviewers spell it out and recommend buying the base Cayenne and pass on the Cayenne S as the difference isn’t noticeable enough. When the Cayenne GTS had its V8, was a different animal from the base model.
The new X5M is game over and one step further than the Cayenne Turbo S.
