BMW USA provides an online tracker in which you can enter your production # and it provides a step by step update of the car (with varying degrees of accuracy
).
I don't know if this is available outside of North America, but worth a try I suppose. If you go to BMW USA's website, in the top right corner of the page you should see, "My BMW". You can then register, and add a car to your "garage" with the production # given to you.
