I have X5 40i and I’m living in the middle east, the car is equipped with ConnectedDrive option and Carplay. The car agent in my country does not have agreement with the internet service provider, hence the ConnectedDrive practically does not work as it can not connect to BMW Cloud, consequently I can not create driver profile (always as Guest) and can not have the BMW apps, etc., but fortunately, Carplay still working and seamlessly connects to my iPhone.
Now my car is due for service and the agent wants to update the iDrive (currently on 03/2019.35) and he warned me that I will lose Carplay by this update because BMW has made Carplay as part of ConnectedDrive and I will not be able to have it any more.
My question if there is any way to reactivate the Carplay after the iDrive update? And if it would be helpful to deactivate the ConnectedDrive through Esys to force the car to enable the Carplay and create driver profile? Need your help please.
