Just 4 short weeks ago, ended up losing my best friend. Happened very quickly from my side...but hurt hard none the less, crying my eyes out for days. Turns out she had some tumors that were causing internal bleeding. With her red blood cell count being arount 25%, there was not much we could do. She was just shy of her 10 year birthday.

The one thing that truly helped was having another dog at home. Kept the place from feeling empty. We got her just over 3 years ago...and really made having 2 dogs easy.

Agreeing with the Mrs to go back to 1 dog...our white dogs sadness grew each day. And to keep this from being a sad post...I present the newest member of the family, Aston McJesus (for those unaware, I just may be a hockey fan).

Picked him up from the breeder on Thursday, at 8.5 weeks old. The white dog had been overly helpful in showing the ropes. I can state in 4 days, only 1 accident in the house...and he's been doing well with the crate at night. I swear these guys come trained at birth...but I do want to make this one more socialble with others than what my all-black was (black one probably had about 50 kills...mostly ground hogs, but took on racoons, possums, turkeys, squirrels, etc. If it had 4 legs and touched our yard...it was dead)

Training so far...sit command is about 100%, stay and come commands about 70%. Stop command about 20% Getting ready to start the leash walking. Its been easy peasy so far...but I know worse days are coming.

Meet Aston. Bottom pics with his big sister Yuki.
