My question really is more about which tower and crossbar system "fits" an X5 better. I used a Yakima on an old XC90 that I had several years ago, but those towers were attached to a fairly beefy siderail. Since then, I have used hitch mounts, but I did not order the hitch on my G05. I don't tow anything so it seemed overkill to get something that would only be for a bike rack mount.

Ah yes, the BMW OEM cross rails are great as the base system. I've used them successfully on many different BMWs over the past. I plan to do so again with the G07
