Oh, is that what a hypocrite is? If only I had known before entering into a discussion about it.

To my knowledge, she did not apply for government assistance. She took only social security because she viewed it as restitution - it's money you've paid in yourself. She opposed the forced redistribution of of wealth, as she believed it was not ours to redistribute. If she had collected welfare (i.e., someone else's funds), it would be hypocritical. To reclaim your own earnings from the state was something she saw as decreasing the injustice of being forced to pay it in in the first place.
