Compare this to the Audi Virtual Cockpit where the screen image bleeds all the way to the edge of the plastic enclosure. In practice this likely means Audi has screen pixels that are obscured by the enclosure - a little bit more $$ spent to make the interior look better. :-/

Now draw some arrows towards the plain, cheap looking gas and temp gauges off to the left and ride side of the screen in the Audi.

I've used the Audi Virtual Cockpit. Does it look cool? Sure. It's designed to "wow" people, to impress them on a 20 minute test drive. In reality, having that giant, bright map spinning around in front of your face while you're driving is a distraction at best, and downright disorienting at worst. BMW could've easily mimicked the Audi system, but chose not to. BMW's implementation is less flashy, but much cleaner.

Anyway, if you like the "gee whiz wow" factor of the Audi system, good for you. Get yours soon though, so you have a year or so with it, because no later than the end of 2020, the Google Maps overlay won't work anymore on any 2018 and older Audi's.
