Now though I wonder if I can get a trial or demo of the software before deciding if I want to spend $500? Anyone know if that is possible?

I just purchased the Adaptive M Suspension last week on the Connected Drive website for my 2023 X5 xDrive 40i xLine. It's a one time charge of $500 plus tax. They charge your card immediately but you have 30 days to trial it. BMW will refund your money and de activate it if you don't like it within the 30 days. Personally I see a difference in rigidity, handling and less body roll going fast into corners, especially in sport and sport + modes, i'm keeping it! All GO5 X5's have the Adaptive M Chassis and electronic dynamic dampers already installed, all it takes is $$$ and a software download to activate it! Part of their "subscription features strategy".
