Use of the cruise control can help as it will minimize the minor speed up/slow down you'd get when just using your foot.
Around LA, you'd likely see a lot of stop and go. The vehicle is heavy. Once it's going, it's not bad. Lots of stop and go, no vehicle is great.
If you expect a lot of stop and go once you arrive, and can't plug in, there is a mode that will let you charge the batteries with the engine.
