- Connect your phone to bluetooth as a new phone.
- In the setting on idrive for that phone, select allow wifi connections.
- in idrive, go to screen mirroring option. it will prompt you to connect a device.
- on your phone, select miracast, screen mirroring or smart view if its a samsung.
- it will search for compatible displays, from there select the bmw miracast.
by then it should be mirroring to the idrive screen.
After that, you can simply go to screen mirroring, devices and click on your phone name to connect from idrive.
hope that helps.

Thanks, I will try again. On a side note, whenever I choose allow wifi in idrive it always wants me to connect to the at&t “car wifi”. I get a pesky pop up on my phone that brings me to the at&t website. I already used my huge free 3 gb trial sub ( what a joke) and I won’t subscribe to at&t for 1GB a month at $35 that’s insane.

Yeah same here, in Canada the prices are ridiculous...
After connecting to the car wifi, go into your wifi settings on your phone and enable an option called "allow data connections to improve internet speed if wifi connection is weak" or something of that sort.
It just bypasses the car wifi altogether and uses your data for browsing.
