I would say the two products are aimed at two different buyers. I've used both and enjoyed both. Race chip works well and on my m5 I could feel the additional power. Jb4 gives you the ability to produce more power than the race chip, and if you like tinkering, jb4 is fun and gives you that ability.

If looking for a modest boost in power and not messing with things, go with race chip. If you want some additional boost and such beyond what racechip will do, and you want to add more mods and fine tune things for different fuels, go with jb4.

It's also nice that jb4 has logging capabilities. But again, if your not into tinkering, you won't use the logging function too much I would imagine.
