I’d say it’s more popular to
de-chrome (remove it) in the US versus adding more chrome.
The popularity of black (or dark wheels), black kidney grilles, Shadowline exterior trim around the windows, door handles, and side vents/grilles, and black model nomenclature (badges) is more prevalent than chroming these items.
