I tested at 520ft above sea level. I can do 4.1 seconds all day long just by mashing the gas. My wife (which knows nothing of this) was given a attempt and she got a 4.3 her first time trying. Temperature, humidity and sea level are all important factors. Make sure your tire pressures is also maxed out as it makes a difference. Do your runs with less than 1/4 tank of gas. BMW is very conservative with their performance numbers. Almost anyone in any condition can surely beat the factory performance spec.

The efficiency of the transmission and how the power is put down is a huge factor in performance and BMW is a masters at this. This little nugget of information is seldom brought up in performance talks.

This is what kills me with today's lazy "so-called" automotive press that reads off specs to gauge a car's performance instead of actually testing it.

Both M50i and 50i M-Sport are under 4 second SUV's. The M50i should easily do it almost every time in lower altitudes.
Thanks for the info. My 2016 X5 50i hit 4.2 to 4.30 consistently. I'm trying to get a sense of real world numbers. I'm going from X3M back to X5. C&D has impressive numbers but on the majority are not replicable in normal conditions.

If I can do 4 flat consistently, I will be happy.
