As for the oily substance, I suspect it's the anti corrosion solution that BMW uses. A lot of users have noticed this substance leaking out of the doors where there's openings to allow water to escape. This is normal. On hot days it will get worse. The good news is, once all of the excess solution is gone, you won't have to worry about it anymore.
Good to know! I was thinking maybe the rear window wiper motor was leaking and became a bit nervous.
