I'm just going to go ahead and say that for everyday use, you could probably validate the thought process of the both of you (and the other 97% of people who never bring their cars for the track)

However, go to any track with both cars equally the same and the same driver except one with stock suspension vs. one to a corner balanced coilover setup and I guarantee the coilover setup car wins. 100% of the time. It's not simply just "lowering" as you speak when done properly.
