One only need look at something that a non-Lewis fan pointed out to me which I never really considered. Lewis has a record of poles that is very similar to his record of race wins. Max has 2 poles and 9 wins in his 6th season of Formula One. This is telling.
Max has yet to drive a car as bad as the MP4-24 which Lewis was saddled with in 2009 after he won his championship. The car was pronounced, "unacceptable", by Martin Whitmarsh in it's performance. Lewis managed 4 poles and 2 race wins in the car. Compare that to his team mate who only scored 19 points in the championship compared to HAMs. The Brawn and the Red Bull were like the Mercedes and Ferrari of 2018. HAM was best of the rest with 4 pole positions and 2 wins but not a single fastest lap. The car wasn't fast in race trim over a single lap. Max has never managed a season like that with better cars. Case closed.

MP4-24 was a completely different to what they have now, a hybrid relentlessly pushed into the ring by Merc themselves that was being BUILT already in 2007. His duel with Alonso all those years back was more dare than skill and was mixed with mistakes together with the well known spy saga of the copying of Ferrari secrets mixed in with that,(£100 million fine for MM) no?
