I also ordered the volume piece. Did you take off the trim piece on which the volume button is attached to? The video instruction below shows how to install the volume piece, but it doesn't show how the trim piece was removed. Do we need to?

Looking at the Video you do not have to remove the complete Trim piece you could do it in position. It would just be a little easier if you removed it but I personally don't think it's worth the effort of removing it. Just do it in place
