May 8th :Another Sad Day in Racing's History : Gilles Villeneuve's passing away

This thread is to commemorate The Memory of Gilles Villeneuve.

Died May 8th 1982 at Zolder in a practice run.

I Know most of the posters weren't born or really aware of car racing in 1982.

Villeneuve was a spectacular driver and a favorite of many racing fans around the world.

Gilles Villeneuve "il piccolo Canadese" was Enzo Ferrari's protégé. Enzo considered Gilles as his son. Villeneuve was fast, very fast... sadly he left our world to early. He is now racing in the sky with the likes of Fangio, Senna, and many otherGreats.

I was 11 yrs old when he died.. I heard of his tragic death, but didn't really think it could be true. then the following Monday while I arrived at the schoolyard, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Everywhere the kids and teachers were discussing it, and they brought mementos, newspaper clippings what not.

Best F1 duel on track...
