Horror stories exist for every brand as you know being in the industry. Perceptions tend to be extreme in the auto business, at least with many people. In other words if you think Toyota is reliable, nothing will change your mind. If you think they're built well, nothing will change your mind. If you think Euro brands are trash? You won't change your mind. At least most won't. Some of the impressions are so engrained in how people think that it takes years for those perceptions to move.
