I've changed a lot of mirror caps on previous BMW's and these have been the easiest to remove. I just used a trim tool to get an edge up and gently worked my way around the cap with my hands. They both popped off without breaking any tabs.

Same here. They look great. I was thinking of getting the gloss black, but havent decided yet.
