That's the exact reason I dont use the M-Display cluster, oh and also the Speedo going up to about 340km/h made the legal driving speeds (< 110km/h) below 1/3 of the overall speedo scale range - so basically not very practical.
I was using the Alpina display for a while and lived with the Speedo scale issues similar to M-Display, but it wore off on me so went back to the standard BMW display. Scale/range of the Speedo & Tacho are good, as well as differentiation of driving modes.
