Why not wait to see if you'll be keeping the car post warranty, then decide 2 or 3 weeks prior and then make the investment for extended warranty. No need to give them your hard earned ~$2,500 up front....as for the brake pads, you will likely replace one set in the first four years...not a huge expense. My opinion.
