The start stop should be more fluent now because it can turn the ICE off earlier while braking before complete stop. And it can also give a little electric punch when accelerating.
I don't no if it could run a couple of meters electric in a traffic jam?
And you can always overrule by putting it the gear into sport.

Let's hope there is a menu control, because the "solution" of Sport drive mode or Sport shift mode is the opposite of lower emissions and fuel economy as intended.

Well that is a discussion. For emissions it would be best not to have a sport mode and not being able to turn the function off. But that wouldn't be fun.
And if it can be switched off temporarily in a menu setting it will still be much easier to switch to sport mode. I know what most people will do.
Maybe OP can confirm if ASS can still be switched off?
I must admit that I my first f11 I didn't like the ASS function. In my G32 it was way better. Turning the engine on when the car in front started to move. More intuitive, not switching on and off again if starting quickly after a first stop.
The 45e is even better in start - stop driving. The ICE stays off.
