Taiwanese can do anything, but I don't think it's BMW original. If it ain't then forget it. Not really a must have option and it's really easy to get broken by idiots who don't realize you have this option on your car, just like auto sliding door on MPVs.

Really? If you remember the time when BMWHK decided to put the rear cam as standard options on the 523i, they need to retrofit it because the orders from the factory came without the camera.

From my understanding, it's an easy retrofit because all cars are supposed to be prewired. You just need to replace the lighting part with one that have the camera, hook it up and update your CIP. If the website show it as an accessory it should be able to retrofit.

Sounds like they don't want your business. Which happens when they are very busy.

GPS came with my 2011 E93 M3 and I tested it against my Android devices (Galaxy S2 ICS4.04, Galaxy Note 2.3.5, Galaxy Tab 8.9). I have Sygic on my S2, Wisepilot on Note, and Route 66 on Tab8.9. Here's what I find:

Initial lock after night.
Fastest->slowest: Note, S2, Tab, and iDrive. Sometimes, it took idrive a full 30 mins to lock while showing me at the peak. I would have been over the western tunnel by then.

Roads completeness: Sygic>Route 66> Wisepilot> iDrive. iDrive still shows me driving on water on route 8 even with the newest map updates. And a lot of the small roads do not appear!

Guidance usefulness: Pretty much even.

Additional features: everybody beats iDrive. I use mostly Sygic and it has speed limit information on roads, speedtrap warnings, and if you have friends using it, it will allow you to navigate to your friends. Route 66 interface has a follow me mode, where it shows you a virtual car in front of you and you follow. Very cool.

Costs? We all know who loses majorly here.......

So even I have GPS on M3, I still just rely on my S2 with Sygic most of the time.......

G Note is probably the best on GPS reception (because it can receive Russian/European sats, too). But finding a car mount for it that is not too obtrusive is not an easy taks.....
I say again, you have to be an absolute idiot to get completely lost in HK with your car. The only use for a GPS is to remind you where the street is, like looking at the map.
