I recommend the Curt Echo bluetooth brake controller. Hook it up to the 7 pin, pair, connect the trailer.
I have over 1,500 miles towing with this. Takes a little to dial in, but every brake controller has its quirks. I use an old cell phone to pair so I can use my current phone for everything else.
