I'm also starting to look for options. Think I've landed on replica 22" 742M staggered setup (same as summer setup). I have an M50i on order and just love the meaty look way too much. Ive had a staggered winter setup on my 335i for years and never had a problem. The rears will wear out a lot faster, but the fronts will last for multiple seasons, so I feel like things even out. I don't think there's a real winter performance concern w the staggered setup... really a question of wear and tear + cost. |
I as well had the staggered setup on the F15 and you are correct. The rear wore out faster than the fronts.
I saw a couple of 22" replicas of the 742M on eBay in bicolour and gray. My concern with the bicolour is the finish against the winter salt and I really wanted gloss black but maybe gray is the way to go if I reconsider the 22". My tire shop has a real challenge with 22" tire options.
So far in the 742M replica options I found:
22" bicolour
22" gray
20" gloss black
20" gunmetal
Not sure if anyone found a 21" 742M replica?
