The R8's Rtronic tranny is actually superior to the BMW's current SMG system. Much more smoother and does not feel like the computer's trying to figure out when to downshift like the SMG. It is more on par to the current Gallardo's Egear system. The car is not "fast" by comparison to many $130k cars on the market, but this is what Audi had to do to set this car up for the V10.
