A guy in London chipped his 30D last year. There is a post somewhere. He used TDI tuning, a company that makes a box very similar to Racechip. You can see them on YouTube. He returned it after a month or so as he said he had many errors crop up. I seem to remember Fuel boost over pressure, and a number of others. Remember these error codes are logged in the cars history, so although bmw cant prove directly you added a tuning box, they have some idea from the history. Not sure if that would invalidate a warranty claim on the engine.
