Every 5K; in my opinion, 10K is too long. Some may contend it is a waste of money, and perhaps it is, but I look at it as preventative maintenance. Of sorts.
That said, notwithstanding personal preference, other factors should be taken into consideration such as driving pattern (short trips vs. frequent highway driving) as well as climate conditions (extreme cold vs. very hot).
