Not everyone has a lot of space or power available in their panel...while the new X5 can only pull a max of 32A, the flexible multi-charger can supply 40A, which means that it SHOULD be supplied with 50A to prevent potential overloading of the wiring should you plug a friend's vehicle in while visiting that can use more than your X5 currently can. While, because your X5 won't overload a 40A circuit, it should be wired with a 50A one, which adds to the installation costs.
