As far as desktops, I just keep upgrading and give my old parts to buddies doing cheaper builds, or sometimes put together a media computer with the left overs.
As far as the OP: I was hardcore PC fanatic for years, hated mac. I finally got fed up with all the quirks in Windows that I did a hackintosh with snow leopard, and loved it so much I don't ever see myself going back to PC. No real reason to buy a Mac either though, IMO, except for business use. Too easy to switch a PC to mac now.
