BMW has been mainstream since leasing became a viable option. There's nothing exclusive, niche, underground or unobtainable about the brand. Hasn't been that way for decades now.
Unless of course someone lives in some small town in a flyover state. Where a 2 series might turn a head.
In SoCal there are more BMW 3 series than there are Civics, Accords, Corollas and Camry's.
