Comparing this year to last year is ridiculous because of the pandemic. But comparing this year to the first half of 2019, BMW sales did still go up a bit:

"To be more precise, the BMW Group sold 1,252,837 cars in the first six months of 2019, an increase of 0.8 percent, as I already mentioned. This is the first time the group sold more than 1.25 million cars in the first half of a year. BMW brand sales have gone up by 1.6 percent so far this year, with 1,075,959 units being sold so far, wearing the BMW roundel on the hood. In June alone, the brand sold 1.4% more cars with a total of 203,523 units added to the delivery list."

From a BMW press release.
