I would agree. I have the brown Individual leather on my F15 X5. It looks super luxurious since the leather covers everything. However, the leather now has small flaws and scrapes all over the place and shows its age more than Dakota would have. This was the $3,900 individual leather option.
So if you are just going to lease and return then the $1,000 for the Merino is a good bet. But if you want to keep it long-term with minimal care, then Vernasca might be the better option. So boils down to how much you plan to use it and how roughly.
There is no doubt the Dakota leather on the X5 (other than the cracks on the vinyl for some) was sturdier than the Merino. Probably going to be the same for Vernasca vs. Merino. Vernasca and Dakota are exactly the same but with different embossing.
Whatever you get with the G05, get the leather dashboard option since the vinyl covering looks kinda cheap to me in real-life.
