The opinion I am going to express is clearly in the minority in this thread. I buy (and have owned four X5's, current 45e) this type of vehicle to be first and foremost a practical car. One, that given its SUV status, handles reasonably well and has sufficient power for what it is: a utility (albeit high class) vehicle.

I have never understood the desire to try to make a 5,000 lb, sit high vehicle, into a sports car. For that, I have sports cars and/or sports sedans.

So personally I wouldn’t, and haven’t, had any interest in extra cost/on going maintenance hassles of V8 X5s.

But like I said, I’m in the minority here…
